Mercedes-Benz was recently spotted resting the AMG One hypercar at a location that’s kept under the wraps for now.
The was first unveiled in a prototype form and was known as “Project One” back in 2017 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show and was expected to be launched in 2019. However, getting the car’s formula one engine suited for the road is taking longer than expected, the car is expected to hit the market in 2021.
One of the major issues has been with emissions as the standards that came into effect in Europe last September have held the car back a little and made things tougher for the Mercedes team.
Just to keep the facts straight, the AMG-One will feature an actual engine used by Mercedes F1 cars. That’s a 1.6 liter turbocharged V-6 complete with an 11,000 RPM, and a turbo mounted electric motor generator.
The One model is expected to give and output of more than 1,000 horsepower. Based on the specifications some performance estimates state that the car can go from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds, and from 0 to 124 in just 6 seconds, and could possibly have a top speed of 217 mph.
The Mercedes AMG One is also set to take on its competitor the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
