Mercedes-Benz has made a commitment to have at least 10 EVs in their lineup by the end of 2022, and it is certain that the one of the 10 electric vehicles will be a small sedan known as the EQE.
Just recently, prototypes of the Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4 were spotted ahead of a likely debut in 2021, and both these vehicles are expected to make their way in the showrooms toward the conclusion of 2021 and will likely be featured as a 2022 model.
Prototypes of the EQE were recently seen in camouflage as well. The design features a similar appeal to the larger EQS electric sedans that are due next year as well.
It’s worth mentioning here that the design and style was previewed by the Mercedes’ Vision Concept Car which was unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show back in 2019. Rumor has it that the EQE’s size is comparable to the size of the C-Class, however it’s expected that the interior of the variant will be as roomy as the cabin of an E-Class Mercedes-Benz.
As of now, it’s not clear how much battery capacity and power the EQE will offer, however the company has made promises of performance improvements on the EQC. It’s important to note that the EQC-400 delivers grade 402 horsepower and a range of almost 200 miles.
Statements from the company have mentioned that the production of the EQE will be handled at Mercedes’ newly constructed plant at the automaker’s headquarters in Sindelfingen, Germany. This high-tech facility is commonly known as Factory 56 which started its operations earlier this year with the redesigned 2021 S-Class.
Apart from the Mercedes-Benz EQE, the company has more EVs in their lineup which include the EQA and EQB compact SUVs and an electric G-Class as well.
