The world famous German tuner Hofele-Design has built a Mercedes-Benz G-Class that features rear-hinged coach doors.
It’s known as the Ultimate HG, and that name does do it justice.
Coach doors, also known as suicide doors, were renown feature of luxury vehicles but have fallen out of the trend unless you’re looking for a Rolls-Royce off-course.
This one of a kind G-Class was built as an alternative option to traditional limousines. To add on the luxury of the vehicle, the variant also features electrically-deployed side steps to account for the SUV’s considerable ground clearance, individually heated rear seats, ventilation and massage options, and area mix of Nappa leather and Alcantara.
A little drawback for the interior designs is a slight trim in the cargo area that has been finished with a piano-back lacquer with aluminum strips. Although the trim is a take away, it has made room for two individual touch screen panels to be added to control the seats’ functions.
As for the exterior of the vehicle, the G-Class gets a custom grille, a new front bumper, carbon-fiber fender flares, and 23-inch wheels. The side-by-side door handles have been highlighted in a chrome spear that runs alongside the SUV. The paint scheme for the redesigned SUV closely resembles that of Carpathian Gray, commonly referred to as a Range Rover color, and that of the Crystal Black from Rolls-Royce.
Many of us are in love with the new design, but it’s important to keep in mind that even though Hofele-Design works closely with Mercedes-Benz, and has focused on the German automaker’s variants exclusively since 2018, there are still an after-market tuner. However, based on the love this design has seen so far, it can be expected that the demands for coach door SUVs straight out the factory will increase.
