First things first, the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is certainly an unusual concept. The vehicle is based on the G-Class running gear and is currently up for grabs in the UK.
Based on the looks of it, the Intruder concept seems to have taken its inspiration from the Mercedes-Benz SLK, which was revealed four months before the off-roader back in 1996 at the Turin Motor Show.
Similar to the SLK, the Intruder sported a folding-hardtop convertible body, however underneath the vehicle is a chassis from the G-320.
The G-Wagen Intruder features an inline-6 engine and a four-wheel driving system along with locking differentials. Based on the recent listing, it can be concluded that the Intruder was subject to restoration cost of 280,000 euro or $330,000.
The restorations included servicing of the engine and convertible-top mechanism.
No dates as when the restoration took place were mentioned. Back in the day, the concept was originally shown in silver and was repainted white and red at various points and is now back in silver with just over 1000 miles on it.
