When the company the launched the 450 SEL 6.9 in 1975, the sedan was the best car to every hit the market. Not only did the car offered extended luxury, but was also the fastest sedan in the world at the time. The model was certainly the best to come of the Stuttgart manufacturer’s factory lane at the time as well. Under the hood the car had a M100 6.9 liter V8 engine.
The engine was created by further development in the 6.3 liter unit. The powertrain engine produced a total of 286 horsepower, 550Nm, and was paired at with a 3-speed automatic transmission allowing the 450 SEL to go from 0 to 100 KM/h in just 7.4 seconds. The car that made speed and luxury come together was produced between 1975 and 1980. The model was only produced 7380 times by Mercedes and is considered one of the best car ever to be made by the company and a classic collection for many.
