Just recently Mercedes Benz and Nvidia decided to partner up to develop a computer to support the evolving tech of self-driving vehicles. This new collaboration will see the two firms working together on new technology based on artificial intelligence, and supporting self-driving cars. The new system is still off the market as the fleet is set to roll out in 2024.
Orin, next-generation hardware from Nvidia will be used to build the computer systems for the vehicles. Mercedes-Benz recently stated that the system will offer Level two and three self-driving capabilities, and Level 4 parking capabilities. The levels defined for the self-driving system are based on the SAE scale of self-driving capabilities.
Although a lot is under the covers, for now, Mercedes-Benz has revealed that the vehicles will be able to learn and adapt to driving along routes despite the road-type, and can drive from one address to another. But wait, that’s not all. The partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia is expected to carry on for quite some time as the two firms aim to have up to Level 5 driving capabilities where the presence of humans is not necessary onboard.
